Building Permit Requirements
Most exterior construction
in the
Section 6-301 (b)
of the Village Code specifies that permit requirements “apply to the demolition of, addition to, or erection, construction, re-construction, repair and improvement of the exterior of all buildings, and accessory buildings, fences and structures, to any activity which will, or may result in the excavation to, or alteration or temporary closure or blockage of, streets or sidewalks within boundaries of the Village.”
No building permit is required
in the case of ordinary repairs or maintenance, defined as those repairs incidental to a continuation of existing uses and necessary to maintain a structure in good working order, and no building permit from Martin’s Additions is required for any of the above described activities if they occur entirely within the interior of a building.
