Bulk Trash Collection

Bulk Trash Collection

Bulk trash is picked up on the second Saturday of every other month (Jan, Mar, May, July, Sept, Nov). Items should be at the curb by 7:00 AM for bulk trash collection.

Acceptable items include furniture, toys and household “junk.” If you are unsure about an item, please contact the Village Office (manager@martinsadditions.org or 301-656-4112). Please consider donating items in good condition to charity.

If you have an appliance to be picked up, please call the Village Office at least 48 hours in advance, as a special truck is required for that collection. Paint will be picked up if the cans have been dried out or filled with an absorbent material, such as kitty litter, and allowed to dry completely.

Items not accepted in Bulk Trash collection include: hazardous materials (gas, paint thinner, asbestos), tires, batteries, appliances containing Freon, dirt, rocks, sand, large tree stumps, liquids, paint, building materials or construction debris (including drywall), and recyclable materials. Yard waste/debris is collected as a part of the ordinary weekly pick up and is not meant for bulk trash collection.

Village Code Chapter 7 – Property Regulations, addresses the accumulation of refuse, as well as the maintenance of the public right-of-way.  A gentle reminder: when putting items out for bulk trash, please be as neat as possible.  Village Code Section 7-203 provides: “The owner of a yard or vacant lot, or his designated agent or lessee, shall maintain such yard or lot in a safe and sanitary condition. Every yard and vacant lot shall be kept free from unreasonable accumulation of rubbish, lawn and garden debris, or hazardous or toxic material, and shall be kept free of garbage.”
